Halloween 2014!

During the month leading up to  Halloween, Zoe had decided to be Elsa and Maddox was going to be Olaf.  Super cute, right??  Costumes were picked and everything was in place...until one week before. Zoe changed her mind and decided that she wanted to be a princess instead while Maddox refused to even put on the Olaf costume.  So, instead, this year we had a fairy (second year in a row) and a dragon/alligator/dinosaur  :)

Not quite sure why she is making that face...
We started the night at our friend Tori and Kyle's house - pizza and drinks before the trick or treating.

Maddox caught on relatively quick to the whole Trick or Treating concept and was unstoppable after the first few houses.  He usually asked each person for "more" or "two."

Green lollipop = mind blown
Zoe was running down the street and from house to house as fast as she could.  I could barely keep up!  Competitive, much?

Yes, the plug and socket costume resurfaced and made it out of the attic  :)
Here's our Halloween crew - all of us are from Santa Barbara and, with the exception of one couple, we all now live in Austin.  Fun, fun!

3 Year Stats

I don't think Maddox appreciated having to go in to the pediatrician for his 3 year check up.

Here are his 3 year stats - he grew 3 inches and 3 pounds since last year!

  • Height - 37" (45th percentile)
  • Weight - 32 lbs (50th percentile)
  • Handsomeness - off the charts!
Some of Maddox's favorite things:
  • Trains - totally obsessed
  • Dancing - although he ends up just jumping up and down to the beat
  • Favorite foods - he continues to be a picky eater -  fries and ketchup are his favorite
  • Favorite book - "Who Ate The Cookie From The Cookie Jar"
  • Knowledge - entire alphabet (upper and lower case), counts to 30 (but tends to skip 14-17), can read a handful of words.  I think he's picking up on what Zoe is learning.

Look at this kid... 3 years already!

Bugs and Critters

There are some big 'ol bugs and critters here in Texas - just thankful I haven't seen any of the scorpions or snakes people talk about! (I hope
I didn't jinx myself...)

Pumpkin Patch!

It's almost Halloween and fall is definitely in the air.  The weather has been amazing - in the 70's and low 80's during the day and 50's at night and the humidity is gone, not that I minded it! With Halloween around the corner, we decided to check out a popular Pumpkin Patch outside of town called Sweet Berry Farm.  It was a half hour drive and well worth it.  The kids were in heaven.
I wonder when they'll stop holding hands when taking pictures together

Zoe braved the jumpy mat...Maddox wanted nothing to do with it until we were leaving -figures!

Look who's jumped right onto the horse without hesitation!!  Can you just imagine little cowboy boots on him?  To die for.
It's official - Zoe definitely wants a horse now.
Getting homemade strawberry ice cream with dad.

Texas Sized Birthday

Zoe was invited to her first birthday party and sleepover last weekend :)  Her Kindergarten friend, Kaylee, turned 6 and invited the entire class to her party.  It was a Frozen themed party (of course) with real live horses brought in for the kids.

Here is Zoe and the birthday girl!  I'm so happy she's making friends!

After about an hour of running around in circles (literally) pizza was served on Frozen themed plates.

Here they are - lining up for the...omg!...ponies!!!!  They didn't believe it at first.
According to Zoe's teacher, waiting patiently in line, or being anywhere other than the front of the line for that matter, is not Zoe's strength.
She didn't even hesitate to jump on the horse (named "Big Momma") in her flip flops.
She must have had at least 7 turns on the horse.
The kids then enjoyed a cake.  Of course it was a Frozen cake to stay true to the theme...
... and then they kept their sugar rush going with a pinata filled with candy.

I was surprised that no fights broke out over the candy. This is quite the civilized group.

Happy 3rd Birthday, Maddox!

Happy THIRD birthday to you, Maddox!!!
New chair for the yearly picture!
You have grown so much over the past few years and it's so much fun to look back at past posts to see just how much change.

Zoe made him a sweet birthday card ...

He seemed impressed by his sister's artistic skills

Maddox ended up going to daycare today since we had a minor disaster last night with Zoe.  She ended up falling off her bed in the middle of the night, biting through her lip and tongue (again!).

Figures that this would happen on her brother's birthday and kindergarten picture day!  To make a long story short, we went to the doctor and she will be just fine.  She does not need stitches - just lots of soft foods and love. So while Maddox was at school, she helped put together his new shiny bike :)
I brought some birthday cake to Maddox's day care so that he can celebrate his big day with his friends.  Look at these kids - so well behaved as they wait for cake.

We spent the rest of the evening at home, opening presents and trying to avoid meltdowns ;)

He actually tried it out -- for 3 seconds :/
I'm very proud of my little man and the sweet boy he is.  He is a big cuddle bug who wants to do everything his sister does (although definitely more cautious than Zoe). He is a picky eater, an early riser and would play with his train tracks all day long if he could.  I love you, Maddox!
