Circus

When I heard that Circus Vargas was coming to town I really didn't think much about it. But then I saw a really great Groupon deal that made it seem a bit more enticing...and I was immediately sold once I found out that it was an animal free circus! Zoe's face was priceless when she saw the trapeze  and motorcycle acts. And of course we had promised her that she could get pink (not blue!) cotton candy and her face painted. 

I guess it wasn't an animal free circus after all!

Dying of the heat here.  It was probably 95 degrees in the tent.  This picture doesn't show how sweaty we really were.

 

Zoe and Maddox were inspired and decided to perform their own circus tricks at home.

Giggles

I think I was delirious from the heat when I recorded this video. Cracks me up though.  Maddox's giggle gets me every time!

Long Summer

It feels like this summer has gone on far longer than most.  We have been trying to take advantage of the perfect, warm weather and spending lots of time outdoors. 

Here we are at the Mission Rose Garden:

....but this picture makes me feel better, she looks little again  :)

It was so hot in our neighborhood this past weekend (93 degrees) and, as most of you know, there is no air conditioning in most of the houses in Santa Barbara. We decided to escape to Beachside Cafe where the kids could people/bird/boat watch and play in the sand.

Best buddies already.

 We've also been enjoying the yard a lot more these days. The pop up pool is a hit with Zoe. Maddox is still getting used to it but I'm sure he'll be splashing around in it soon enough. We also just discovered that our fig tree now has a ton of figs just ripening.

Almost....

....wait for it...

....got it!

Mmmm...Zoe couldn't get enough.

 

Maddox seemed to like his figs too.

And this is what our 3 year old monkey does on the swing now. Maybe she'll be like me and like to climb trees :)

11 Months

Wow, can you believe that we are one month away from celebrating Maddox's 1st birthday?!?!!

So handsome!

A few things to point out about Maddox since our last monthly picture:

• No new teeth.  He still only has his 2 bottom chompers
• He is now taking 3-5 wobbly steps on his own!
• He loves to clap
• He stomps his right foot and sways to the beat of music
• Changing his diapers works out for all parties involved as long as we sing a song while doing it
