Memorial Weekend 2009

This memorial weekend was one of the first we actually did not travel. Instead, we spent these past few days with Mom and Dad Mainguy inspecting the new house we are buying, going to to the I Madonnari art festival and just lounging around. And I was lucky enough to get, not one, but two (!) massages! What a luxury :)

Here are a couple of pictures of M&D doing their thing at the festival:

Fire Update

Last night brought the fire closer to our home so we are officially in an evacuation warning area. I'm going to be working from home today in case things take a turn for the worst but we should be OK.

We had to sleep with all the windows shut last night and for those of you who have stayed over you know that, like most of Santa Barbara, we have no air conditioning. Our house must have been in the high 80's all night. I am a firm believer that ice packs are one of the greatest inventions of all time.

I'll update everyone if anything changes ...

Jesusita Fire

Six months after battling the Tea Fire, Santa Barbara has another fire burning in the hills. It started yesterday afternoon off along the Jesusita hiking trail. It seemed as though firefighters had it under control this morning but it took a turn for the worst this afternoon in the 96 degree heat and 30-40mph winds.

Here are a pictures taken from the lawn across the street from our house - the sky is bright blue on one side and dark gray on the other.

Maya was all smiles in spite of the fire:
In fact, she didn't even seem to notice and went on with "business" as usual:

Birthday Weekend

I finally have some pictures from last weekend when my parents came down to visit. We had a great time. I got an amazing massage (the first pregnancy massage!), we went out to dinner on the waterfront, we shopped and, of course, had mom's famous crepes. Dad was finally able to get his Christmas present - a scenic flight around Santa Barbara!

Unfortunately, mom "accidentally" deleted the pictures of her but here are a couple she took before they left town.
