13 Months!

I can't believe I forgot to post Maddox's 13 month picture!  It's getting harder and harder to get him to sit still for these....

He cut his top right tooth on November 1st and his top left is almost there.  He still isn't the best eater but he has made some progress. His favorite things to eat these days are the roasted chicken from Costco (really, who doesn't love that roasted chicken??), blueberries, wheat bread, cheese, apple sauce and greek yogurt. His favorite things to do are to play with Maya (like his sister at 13 months) and to open and shut all the doors and drawers in the house.

SB International Marathon

I decided to take on the Santa Barbara International 1/2 Marathon this year and for those of you who know me, I am NOT a runner. When I first started my 12 week training program, I couldn't even run a half mile without stopping. But I stuck to it and on Saturday I completed my first (and, to be honest, probably my last) half marathon. My official time was 2 hours 7 minutes which brings me to a 9 minute, 42 second mile average.  Not bad for someone who 4 months ago hated to run!
Here I am with Marie, all pumped up before the start of the race. It was freezing at 7am!
Lining up...
Francis and the kids were there to cheer me on the whole time.  Hearing Zoe say, "Go Mommy Go!" was the cutest thing ever. Fanfan ended up driving down and surprising me around mile 7, I was so confused at first, wondering who the french guy was running after me ;)
Zoe cheering me on.
Poor little Maddox trying not to fall asleep
About 10 feet from the finish line - I was about to fall over at this point.
The official time!
I literally can't stand up at this point.
We did it!!
We went to Flavor of India and hit up their buffet that afternoon. I love no-guilt lunches!

A few friends and I treated ourselves to deep tissue massages and brunch at the Four Seasons Biltmore the next day...so fun and much needed!

The bird that pooped on our table.
Now that I think about it, I might just have to do another race just for that spa treatment and brunch.  Never say never, right?

Ouchie #1

It's starting.... Maddox is starting to run more and more and today he decided to fall face first into a chair. He doesn't need stitches, thank goodness. But it's a good ouchie nonetheless.

Do you think it takes away from his uni-brow??  Either way, he's still my handsome boy  :)

Family Pictures 2012!

We took our annual family pictures a few weeks ago at Douglas Preserve. It was first thing in the morning and the light was amazing.  Here are some of my favorites of the bunch.

Halloween Festivities!

We had SO many Halloween events/parties lined up this year for the kids. Their costumes definitely got put to good use. Now we just have to find a way to get rid of all the candy we now have in the house before I eat it all.
Zoe's daycare took a field trip out to Lane Farms to pick out their own pumpkins.
Already ready to drive

This guy was obsessed with the straw...

Zoe and her daycare friends

Again with the straw...
Checking out the goats.
Picking out a winner.
Our amazing daycare lady, Tami, took the kids with her to Pismo Beach - to Avila Farm - where Zoe rode her first horse (more like a mini horse, but still!)
Zoe and one of her BFF's, Claire.
So happy!
Happy little Maddox
Checking out the tail ;)
The Friday prior to Halloween we went to the local Y where they had entertainment, free food and a Thriller dance. Zoe didn't seem too impressed with the entertainment:
Then, Saturday, we went to Boo at the Zoo. They blocked off most of the animals which was a bummer but there was a ton of activities for the kids to take part in.
The rock maze.

Zoe entering the cemetery.  She was never scared.

Pic with dad. Zoe was trying to get through this huge lollipop.
Again...the lollipop!
Zoe and I showing off our best dance moves.
Snow White and the Lion
Then Tuesday we had a work party ...
Wednesday was actual Halloween!!  We went trick-or-treating in our neighborhood with our friends Marie and Steve and their son, Teyton (who is 2 days younger than Maddox).  The neighbors really do go all out this time of year. The streets were packed with people - I'm glad I live a few blocks off all the madness!
Getting ready to go!
Yay!  The Princess, Lion and Sock Monkey!

Funny what a difference a year makes.  Last year, Maddox was just a few weeks old and Zoe was still obsessed with lollipops.
